Folkje Nawijn
In de surrealistische tekeningen werkt Nawijn met houtskool, krijt, inkt en aquarelverf op papier. Intuïtief en improviserend komen de werken tot stand. Natuur, mythen en oude verhalen zijn inspiratiebronnen. De kunstenaar combineert het tekenen met het maken van objecten. Gevonden materiaal is daarbij een belangrijk uitgangspunt. Daaruit ontstaan magische en mysterieuze voorwerpen, die verschillende en tegenovergestelde emoties kunnen oproepen. Ze vormen voor de kunstenaar een moderne voortzetting van prehistorische en tribale kunstvormen.
Nawijn makes surrealistic drawings on paper, using charcoal, pastels, ink and gouache. Nature, myths and ancient stories are a source of inspiration. Intuition and improvisation play an important role during the drawing process. Next to drawing the artist makes objects, found materials are the most important starting point. Magical and mysterious objects, evoking different and opposite emotions. For the artist they are a modern continuation of prehistoric and tribal artforms.
