Beth Namenwirth
Al sinds haar afstuderen aan de Rietveld academie heeft Beth Namenwirth voornamelijk vrouwen geschilderd. Vanaf 2022 schildert ze de vrouwen meer in close-up, waarbij de randen van het canvas soms een uitsnede maken, het meer om het vrouwenlichaam zelf gaat. De détails van de kleding en huid en stofuitdrukking worden belangrijker.
Een terugkerend thema in mijn werk is de obsessie met uiterlijk: hoe willen vrouwen eruit zien, hoe vinden ze dat ze eruit moeten zien enop welke manieren zijn ze bezig met het manipuleren van hun uiterlijk?
